Most courses will use Desire2Learn (D2L) as the new Learning Management System, but a few courses will use a publisher's site to deliver course information. If this is the case, you should log into D2L for instructions from your instructor on how to access your course information.

Create a password for D2L using your Banner ID and Banner PIN by going to http://password.montana.edu. Click the link in the blue box and enter your Banner ID, Last Name, and Banner PIN. Be sure to mark all check boxes and follow the password rules on the Account Credentials form.
Your username will be your Net ID or your MyMSU Portal Username also known as your Desire2Learn ID. The D2L Username is usually in the format of firstname.lastname but there are a few exceptions. If you do not know your username, go to Banner Web and click into the Secure Area, then click on Personal Information, and click on View IDs. Write down your Net ID and your D2L ID because you will need this information to log in to D2L and to set up your student email account.
If you forget your D2L or student email password, you can reset your password yourself by going to password.montana.edu. However, if you get locked out of Banner, please call Admissions or the Distance Learning Office to get it reset.

After you have attempted to reset your password but get the message "Authorization Failed," please call the HelpDesk at 406-771-4433.
